Saint Peter Area Robotics Program Updates for Fall 2020

We hope that you and your families are safe and well.  Saint Peter Area Robotics would like to ensure that we all stay that way as we consider what  robotics programs we might be able to offer this fall.  State and local guidelines, as well restrictions placed on us by the Saint Peter Community Center and Gustavus Adolphus College, have caused us to limit our offerings to the following:

FLL Discover (ages 4-6) & FLL Explore (ages 6-10), formerly Junior FLL, will not be offered this fall.  We can offer curricular and physical materials (like Legos) for families to borrow if they wish to work with their student(s) at home.  Please contact us if you’re interested. Email Chuck Niederriter – chuck@gustavus.edu

FLL Challenge (ages 9-14), formerly FLL, will only be offered if a parent or parents wish to coach a team. If you are interested in this, please contact us (Kristi Borowy – kristiborowy@hotmail.com) and we can discuss location options. All equipment would be provided, as well as mentorship on coaching.  FIRST has designed all of their fall programs so that tournaments will be virtual in some form.

FTC won’t be offered this fall. The SPAR board will continue to explore online programming and drafting programs as well as online challenges to engage interested students.

Since the FRC season doesn’t formally begin until January we are hoping that the situation will improve enough that we will be able to be back at Gustavus for this offering.

This is the time of the year that we have our informational meeting and many families register for programs.  Due to the circumstances we will not be having a meeting in August.  We look forward to inviting all to join us at some future date to discuss robotics programs in the Saint Peter area.

Thank you!
